Boiler repair in Preston

Boiler Not Working? No Heating or Hot Water in Preston

No heating, no hot water, boiler flashing an error code — before you panic, run through these checks. They genuinely solve a good share of the no-boiler call-outs we attend across Preston.

Five quick checks

  1. Pressure. If the gauge reads below 1 bar, the boiler locks out. Top up via the filling loop to about 1.2 bar (our pressure guide walks you through it).
  2. Power and controls. Check the fuse box, the boiler's plug or switch, and that the thermostat battery isn't dead and is actually calling for heat.
  3. Gas. Does the hob work? If nothing gas works, check your meter — prepay credit, or the emergency control valve knocked off.
  4. Frozen condensate pipe (cold snaps). The white plastic pipe running outside can freeze and shut the boiler down — thaw it gently with warm (not boiling) water, then reset.
  5. Reset. Press the reset button once and give it a few minutes. Repeated resetting isn't a fix though — if it locks out again, there's a fault.
