New Bathroom Cost Guide: What Affects the Price?
Bathroom prices vary more than almost any other home improvement, because no two jobs are the same. Here's what actually drives the cost of a fitted bathroom in Preston — so you can budget with your eyes open.
The main cost factors
- The suite and fittings. A sensible quality suite (bath or shower, basin, toilet) can be modest; designer brassware, stone basins and LED mirrors add up fast. You choose the level — we fit either to the same standard.
- Tiling. Usually the biggest swing. Full floor-to-ceiling tiling costs more in both tiles and labour than tiled wet areas with painted walls. Large-format tiles look superb but take more care to fit.
- Keeping or changing the layout. If the toilet, basin and bath stay where they are, the plumbing work is straightforward. Moving them means re-running pipework and waste — doable, but it adds labour.
- Showers. A mixer over the bath is simple; a separate enclosure with a digital shower and a niche shelf is a bigger job.
- The hidden stuff. Old houses hide surprises — perished pipework, rotten floorboards, walls that aren't square. We flag anything we find straight away rather than burying it in the bill.
One team, start to finish
We manage the whole job — plumbing, tiling, electrics and plastering — so you're not juggling three trades and hoping they turn up in the right order. See recent work in our gallery and on our bathroom installations page.
